Thursday, May 10th, I’m the musical guest at a new reading series at HiFi called The Lantern, curated by Colter Jackson and Nicole Fix, with the musical portion curated by John Jackson. There will be readings by three authors (Judy Batalion, Ananda Lima and Afia Atakora) and one musical guest (me!). I’m really looking forward to it. Come along!
And then, Friday May 12th, I’m thrilled to be co-hosting Bushwick Book Club at City Winery with my good friend and BBC founder, Susan Hwang. This is an official event of the Mayor’s One Book, One New York initiative. Everyone’s reading and writing songs (or creating a dance, film, visual art or snacks) inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book, Americanah. Tickets are $10 and are available here. I recommend getting them in advance.
Also, Susan and I were interviewed for this article in Lit Hub about One Book, One New York.
Here’s a picture of me at last month’s book club taken by AJ Gustern. And here’s a link to my EP of Bushwick Book Club songs.
