This past weekend I had the honor of singing Nick Cave’s beautiful Ship Song at an old friend’s wedding. I love Nick Cave and it was a fun challenge to try to do this song justice. I also had the pleasure of collaborating with the very talented guitarist Chris Parrello and drummer, Evan Pazner on this.
The wedding itself was held at an outdoor mountain chapel encircled by tall trees in upstate New York. The groom is an artist and walked down the aisle in a full-on deepsea diver outfit complete with a giant copper diving helmet. The whole thing had the feel of a Michel Gondry film and was moving and special and one of the coolest weddings I’ve ever been to.
This Friday, the band and I are playing at Bait & Tackle in Red Hook from 9-10:30pm. It’s a great place to hang out and has the best taxidermy in King’s County. I would love to see you there.
Here’s Nick Cave singing The Ship Song.
